STELLAR - ORIGAMI ARTWORK SYMBOLISING A HAPPY FAMILY IN UNITY AND HARMONY
STELLAR is an artwork created with 200 individually folded origami cranes in three sizes, making each one unique. Each origami crane is folded with a tweezer due to their sizes. The exquisite papers are made in Japan, patterned from ancient kimono designs.
Cranes are symbols of good luck and longevity. The act of folding is contemplative, and in the artwork, it took considerable time.
The colourful palette and shapes were carefully chosen to express diversity and unity. Each crane is different and yet the same family. The cranes are placed on a white board with gold and silver leaves, and sparkles when the light catches them.
A large circle of cranes provides a protective enclosure for the small cranes flying carefree within. The placement of each crane is precise and is essential in the overall design.
The circular design creates movement and strength radiating from the centre. The view is interesting from every angle. The shadows formed by the cranes add another dimension.
